How to prepare for your first visit

First schedule an appointment by contacting us using one of the methods listed here. Our first visit together will be a meet & greet and potential initial assessment based on your physician’s referral (see forms). You will have a chance to meet the animals, tour the grounds and ask questions to your heart’s content.

Please make sure to follow our barn rules at every visit:

  • Wear appropriate shoes/ boots. No open toes, sandals, high heels, flip flops or crocks. It is very important to ensure the safety of everyone entering the grounds – not only the clients. Please make sure all visitors you may bring follow these rules.
  • Please check in at the SVTRC office first thing when you arrive. If the office is not occupied, feel free to wait there or walk down to the indoor riding ring. Approach the gate by calling “door” to ensure that horses inside the ring are aware of you and don’t spook.
Occupational Therapy

Keeping everyone safe means:

  • Use a quiet voice

  • Only touch the animals when a member of our staff is with you

  • No climbing on equipment

  • Caution with fencing as they have electric current to keep horses safe
